BIOGRAPHY
Electric 'fro rocker, David Vaughn is San Diego's hottest new rock star! His funky alt. rock single
"Punk!" can be heard pumping on California mainstream radio and his energetic act has
earned him opening spots for Sum 41, Social Distortion, Plain White T's, The Bravery, 30
Seconds to Mars, Shiny Toy Guns and more!
David Vaughn was born in San Diego, California in the midst of the 1980's. Living in the
comfort and entrapment of suburbia both cradled and created chaos for the singer as a child.
His brain raced during the lull of high school and in the middle of class lectures, he began
writing songs about the mute girl who ate hot dogs everyday for lunch, his obnoxious girlfriend
who would never stop talking, and his candid curiosity of astrology. No Doubt, the Red Hot Chili
Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, & Lenny Kravitz were some of the influences in David’s early
songwriting. In high school, he began to produce the funky beats and unapologetic lyrics that
have become a main theme in his music.
After graduating high school at age 17, the detest of boredom drove David away from his
familiar home in San Diego and into the Hollywood hills to find stimulation, muse, and
purpose. At sundown, he and his friends would sneak into high profile clubs and parties
armed with only his afro, some eyeliner, and the will to succeed. And he did! During David’s
determination to find his place in the universe of music, he met his current mentor and
producer Ron Harris (Producer for Christina Aguilera & former A&R for Epic Records) who
enrolled him in his artist development camp and showed David the ropes of the music
business. Harris also introduced him to his friends, director Cha’n André (Destiny’s Child,
Whitney Houston, Paula Abdul), and singer-songwriter Stephanie Ridel (Fergie, Wild Orchid,
Joanna) who honed in on David’s strengths to bring out the best of his abilities.
Now in 2007, David Vaughn is breaking the mold with his electrifying new record WIRED! Spun
from the threads of funky, alternative, & 80's new wave rock, WIRED delivers a first class ride
into the future of mainstream music. His stellar new hit, "PUNK!" is a funky dance-rock track
that has taken over as San Diego radio's most requested song by an unsigned artist. The
area's top alternative rock station, 91X began playing the song once David was featured at their
premier XFEST festival in the Spring of 2007. Now radio stations in Los Angeles and New York
are spinning David Vaughn's hot track and making it a hit!
Additional contributors to WIRED include Christina Aguilera producer, Ron Harris who
produced the ultra catchy "You & Me", a modern rock feature filled with twisting acoustic and
electric guitars, emotionally-effected string arrangements, and infectious vocal lines. Other
fantastic highlights off of the record include the new-wave carpe diem themed "Today", and the
haunting acoustic ballad, "I Won't Forget". David Vaughn's party-rock song "Get 2 Know U" is
featured in the film Have Love, Will Travel which premiered on June 10th, 2007 at the
CineVegas film festival in Nevada.
WIRED, now available on iTunes, proves that David Vaughn is "a new wave anomaly" that is
"relentlessly entertaining", "completely fun, fresh, and original" and it's only a matter of time
before the Kid with a 'Fro changes the face of modern music!
